How far will you go to save the planet?
I wrote about hot summers and global warming. One of the reasons George W Bush gave for not signing the Kyoto Protocol was that he wouldn't do anything to threaten US businesses. One of the reasons that many British people give for not doing more to save the planet - like driving less, or cutting home energy consumption - is that they're not prepared to do without the things they're used to, especially if they can afford to pay for them. As has been said, it's not easy being green - you've got to work at it. Can we afford to wait for everyone to do the right thing, or should people be made to? For example, should old-fashioned light bulbs be banned, and should you be fined for failing to recycle?
